Angry Verstappen is fed up: 'Laughable, better off at the casino'

Max Verstappen was unable to finish the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Formula One world champion put his Redline LMP to the pit lane just under six hours before the end and quit the battle. He was upset that his team did not recover the lost laps after a disconnect. 'It's laughable,' said an exasperated Verstappen.

In the previous two editions, Verstappen also failed to make it to the end. Halfway through the night from Saturday to Sunday, Verstappen's Team Redline was disconnected. Rules dictated that the car was not entitled to recover the lost laps, causing the team to drop from first to 13th place. When Verstappen got behind the wheel in the morning hours and was told the bad news by team manager Atze Kerkhof, he gave up.

'You prepare for months for this race, lead in the championship, try to win this race and then they handle it like this. It's laughable,' feted Verstappen on platforms that followed the online race. 'I stopped because I don't want to drive in place 15 for six hours. I'm better off going to the casino in Las Vegas, I have a better chance of winning there.'
