Where the Bundesliga and the Premier League among others started this weekend, the season in Spain starts a week later. And that's just as well for FC Barcelona, as the club is in trouble after spending too much money on the transfer market. The Catalans only have a few days left to ensure a number of outgoing transfers in order to register the new arrivals for La Liga.

Barça has not yet been able to register any of its new signings for La Liga. With the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, Raphina and Jules Koundé, among others, for a total of over 150 million euros, the club has spent too much money and therby broken the rules of Spain's top league.

The Catalans now need to sell one or more players to be able to enroll the acquisitions. And so they are again looking at a possible departure of Frenkie de Jong. The midfielder can leave the club, for around 80 million euros, but has indicated that he would like to stay. However, a solution must be found and they can decide to let De Jong leave for less. The problems need to be solved before August 13, which is when the first game against Rayo Vallecano is scheduled. To be continued....
