Federer earns $90 million without even hitting a ball

Tennis is not a lucrative job for every professional, but for the big names there seems to be no shortage of cash, because the prize money at the big tournaments is getting higher by the year. But not only on the court a lot of money is earned, most tennis players make equal if not larger amounts of money away from it. Forbes' magazine found out how much the best tennis players in the world earned both on and off the court in 2022. Roger Federer is in the lead for the 17th consecutive year.

After his loss at Wimbledon 2021 against Pole Hubert Hurkacz, we have not seen Roger Federer in action. A persistent knee injury has kept the Swiss on the sidelines for over a year and the question is whether he will meet his goal of being able to play tennis again in September. A year of injury means a year of no income. Or so you would think, because nothing could be further from the truth. The twenty-time Grand Slam winner earned no less than 90 million dollars, all with activities off the court, such as sponsorship deals and his own shoe brand.
