New disappointment on top of suspension for Ronaldo | Portuguese may not play for Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo will not make his debut for his new club Al-Nassr on Thursday afternoon. The Portuguese superstar has yet to serve a two-game suspension from his time at Manchester United. On April 9, he knocked a cell phone out of a 14-year-old Everton fan's hand, after the game against The Toffees, for which he is now being punished.

Although the incident occurred back in April, the FA's disciplinary committee did not rule until November. By then Ronaldo had already left Manchester United, having made himself impossible by, among other things, lashing out harshly at the club management and manager Erik ten Hag in an interview. According to FIFA regulations, that suspension must be transferred to the Saudi Football Association.

Ronaldo blunders at presentation

On Tuesday night, Ronaldo was presented at his new club. At the press conference, however, the Portuguese made a slip and briefly did not remember which country he was in. 'For me, it's not the end of my career to go to South Africa. I'm not worried about what is being said. I make my own decisions and am happy to be here,' said the superstar, who really did end up in Saudi Arabia after all.

As it turns out, Ronaldo is not allowed to play for Al-Nassr at all because the club currently employs the maximum number of foreigners allowed. Regulations dictate that the club may have a maximum of eight players of foreign origin under contract. After Ronaldo was contracted, this number now stands at nine. For Ronaldo to be in action, in addition to serving his suspension, he must wait for the sale of a foreign player.
