On Monday evening, the US government announced that travel restrictions related to the coronavirus will be lifted after May 11th. Currently, only vaccinated people are welcome in the US. This is excellent news for Djokovic, who is aiming for the record for most Grand Slams ever. The Serbian currently has 22, as many as Spanish player Rafael Nadal.
Last year, Djokovic missed the Australian Open, the US Open, and the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami because he refused to get vaccinated. He also had to skip the Masters tournaments this year. The 2023 US Open begins at the end of August. Djokovic has won the tournament three times (in 2011, 2015 and 2018) and has played in the finale nine times in total.
