Weghorst prepares for Manchester United debut: 'Am not done with the Premier League yet'

Wednesday night Manchester United will play an away match against Crystal Palace. This is a game that was originally scheduled in round 7 and with a win, manager Erik ten Hag's team can take second place. There is a possible debut at Selhurst Park for Wout Weghorst, who is happy to be back in England. 'I'm eager to show myself,' said an overjoyed Weghorst.

Weghorst turned in a fine first half of the season at Besiktas. For the Turkish superpower, the tall striker scored eight goals in 16 appearances in the league. Nobody in Turkey expected Weghorst to leave the club after only six months, but Manchester United's offer could not be refused. The move to The Mancunians is eye-catching, but Weghorst is all for it. 'I'm not done with the Premier League yet. It did not work out the way I wanted that first time and I am eager to show myself and help the team,' Weghorst said, referring to his failed adventure at Burnley.

In the summer of 2021, Weghorst made the switch from VFL Wolfsburg to Burnley. In the Bundesliga, the Dutchman was scoring goals left and right, but in England he struggled significantly. In twenty appearances, Weghorst found the net only twice for Burnley, the team were relegated and a disappointed Weghorst was rented out to Besiktas. A place in the starting eleven is not obvious and the striker himself realizes that. 'Things are going well here the last few months. I want to contribute to that in whatever form I can. I want to score, of course. I am a striker and every striker knows: you live by scoring goals.'
