Lutsharel Geertruida is attracting strong interest from FC Barcelona, as reported by the Spanish outlet Sport. The Catalan club is willing to offer a fixed amount of 10 million euros for the Feyenoord defender, with an additional five million euros possible through bonuses. Barcelona views the versatile 22-year-old player as a much-needed reinforcement for the right-back position.

A month ago, it became clear that Geertruida was being monitored by Barcelona, and now the interest is becoming more concrete. There is an urgent need for reinforcements at the right-back position. Last season, Jules Koundé, who was a multi-million euro signing, played in that role, but he feels more comfortable playing in the center of defense. Geertruida is not the only right-back that Barcelona is interested in.

29-year-old Joao Cancelo is also being considered and would be on loan from Manchester City. Geertruida and Real Valladolid defender Iván Fresneda are seen as talented competition for the Portuguese player. According to Sport, the interest in Geertruida primarily comes from Jordi Cruijff, with technical director Deco also convinced of his qualities.

Feyenoord wants to wait for the interest of other clubs before making a decision. In April of this year, Geertruida extended his contract until 2025. According to Transfermarkt.nl, his value is around 18 million euros. Therefore, at first glance, the potential offer of ten million plus five million in bonuses that Barcelona is willing to pay seems relatively low.

Although Barcelona sees Geertruida as a right-back, he is a versatile player. This season, Geertruida has also played as a defensive midfielder and as a center-back. He has already played a total of 151 matches for Feyenoord's first team, scoring fifteen goals and providing six assists. Additionally, last March, Geertruida made his debut playing for the Dutch national team in a match against France (a 4-0 loss).
