Real Madrid are going all out to bring Kylian Mbappé to the Spanish capital this summer. President Florentino Perez has tried and failed to sign the French superstar for years, but now thinks he can finally clinch the deal. Real are reportedly willing to drop a record fee on the striker, who himself has become more willing to leave, thanks to turmoil at his club PSG.
In 2022, after a long soap opera, Mbappé extended his contract at PSG until 2025, so an interested club would have to put up an unprecedented amount of money on to get him. That does not seem to be a problem for Real Madrid, report British newspaper The Telegraph. The world record currently stands at 222 million euros, for which Neymar left FC Barcelona for PSG in 2017. Real Madrid seem intent on breaking that.
Indeed, the Madrid club management suspect that the turmoil in Paris may contribute to Mbappé's desire to leave. Lionel Messi is at odds with the fans and coach Christophe Galtier enjoys little confidence. Moreover, Paris Saint-Germain were eliminated as early as the Champions League's Round of Sixteen again, while Real Madrid once more have made it to the semifinals. The Telegraph write that a new bid is expected next summer from Estadio Santiago Bernabéu for the dazzling world champion and that the amount will exceed the world record of 222 million.
If the deal is closed, Mbappé will not be the only expensive purchase. Perez would like a new team full of Galácticos and has already been to Germany to hold contract talks with Jude Bellingham. The English midfielder has already agreed terms and will likely be acquired from Borussia Dortmund for between €100 million and €120 million.
